Pittsburgh Area Rescues/Shelters Status (Video Link)

Rescues and shelters across the country are full. The local (to me - we’re all over the place in western PA!) Pittsburgh station, WPXI, did a story on the animal crisis facing the city, you can view it here.

There are a variety of reasons, what we often see on owner surrender forms are - bite incidents, aggression, too much energy, not enough time, etc. What we rarely see are surrenders that start off with the training the dogs received. Animals are a lifelong commitment and we want every dog we help to have their permanent home.

Please do your research on the breed to know what you are getting before you adopt. If you aren’t sure, consider fostering, it’s a win-win-win — the dog is able to be saved, you can see if they are a fit for you, and if not, we find them a home.
