About Us
The Beginning
Lori Moses started Saving Shepherds Rescue in August 2019. She is a wife, a mother of four, and grandmother of six. She has had a love for all animals since she was little, however German Shepherds have always been her passion. As a child, Lori would bring every stray she found home, much to the displeasure of her parents. She felt she was their voice and that would be her mission in life.
Lori started out as a foster for a local Saegertown, PA rescue, where she learned all that she could about fostering, rescuing, and the work that is involved in starting your own rescue. Once her children were grown, she decided it was time to start her own rescue. She had seen that Texas and other southern states have severe overpopulation problems with shepherds and shepherd mixes. After she rescued her third personal dog from there, she decided that is where she would mainly do rescuing from. Lori’s deep love, understanding, and knowledge of the German Shepherd Dog is the foundation upon which Saving Shepherds Rescue rests.
The Present
Since 2019 the rescue has grown considerably, what once was just Lori fostering all dogs has grown to a community! We’ve saved hundreds of dogs in numerous states and conditions and given many people a loving family member. While some are repeat adopters, foster fails, or new to Saving Shepherds Rescue, once you are here, you are part of our family for life!
The Future
Looking to the future, we want to save even more dogs! We need your help – donate, foster, adopt – help us, help them!!
